Lin San Temple is located at No. 27, Lor 12 Geylang. It was established by Venerable Rui Xiang (瑞祥法师), a Hakka from Guangdong. In the 1960s, Venerable Rui Xiang passed away and was succeeded by Venerable Chang Heng (常恒法师) and Venerable Ming Zhen (明真法师). In 1973, Venerable Chang Heng (常恒法师) initiated reconstruction project for Lin San Temple.
Venerable Chang Heng (常恒法师) frequently take part in ceremonial prayer services, charities at orphanages and elderly homes, providing children’s Dharma lesson etc. Under the leadership of Venerable Chang Heng (常恒法师), Lin San Temple became famous, and many believers flocked to it.
With the successive construction of surrounding buildings, the foundation of Lin San Temple has been seriously damaged and was labelled as “dangerous building”. In 2003, for safety reasons, Lin San Temple had to be demolished and rebuilt. However, due to insufficient funds and revision of architectural drawings, the reconstruction project had to be postponed even till the passing of Venerable Chang Heng (常恒法师) in 2017. In order to fulfil Venerable Chang Heng’s (常恒法师) last wish and realize the desire to transform Lin San Temple into a modern Buddhist temple, thanks to several fundraising efforts by the community, the rebuilding of Lin San Temple has finally come into realization.
